Companies House ID Verification

From 18 November 2025, new rules come into force requiring directors, PSCs (people with significant control), and anyone filing on behalf of a company to verify their identity with Companies House.

 What you need to know:

- New directors must verify their ID before being appointed or before a company can be incorporated

- Existing directors and PSCs must verify their ID by their next confirmation statement after 18 November 2025

- Agents (like accountants) who file on behalf of companies must also complete verification

- Failing to verify could result in penalties or filing delays

 These changes are part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, aimed at improving transparency and tackling fraud.
